The call will be on Thursday, January 19 at 4pm EST on this conference line: 712-432-0111, 668783#. The agenda will include federal policy updates and some SGA program updates. Note: the call will revert back to the last Thursday of the month as of February.
Federal Policy Update
Congress is not currently in session. The House will return on January 17th and the Senate on January 23rd. Also on January 23rd is the State of the Union Address.

As part of our commitment to coalition members and continuing interest in telling a wider audience about the merits of smart growth, we are currently soliciting communications story ideas from coalition members, developers and community leaders. Your ideas will be used to create a new weekly feature online that will make its debut in February. Join SGA at the New Partners for Smart Growth Conference
The Local Governments Commission is presenting the 11th Annual New Partners for Smart Growth conference February 2-4 in San Diego, California.The 2012 New Partners for Smart Growth Conference includes several sessions and a pre-conference workshop that explore critical issues and showcase strategies and opportunities for greater collaboration among the smart growth. SGA staff will be at the conference speaking on panels and joining discussions. You can get the full schedule on our website. We are also hosting the 2nd Annual Smart Growth awards and reception on Friday, February 3 at 7:15 (location TBD). Please keep your eye out for more details about that.
RFP now available for Local Sustainability Matching Fund – Deadline March 5
The Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities and the Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN) joined together to launch a Local Sustainability Matching Fund. The fund will provide matching investments from national foundations on a competitive basis to build partnerships between sustainability directors and local place-based foundations to advance discrete sustainability initiatives that demonstrate broad-based community support and engagement.
